Children

Raising children can be one of the most difficult and rewarding jobs a parent can do. Often this period of time can bring up difficult things from our own past which is very normal and we can expect this to happen. Elizabeth works with both parents and children to gain better awareness and understanding of the child's needs so that the relationship can become more enjoyable for both parent and child.

Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)

Elizabeth also works with children who have experienced trauma by using Child-Parent Psychotherapy. CPP focuses on infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their parent/caregivers who have witnessed or experienced potentially traumatizing events such as domestic violence, abuse, neglect, and even loss of a parent. Other children present with behaviors such as recklessness, excessive tantrums, multiple fears, aggression, defiance, inconsolability, separation anxiety, difficulties sleeping, and social and emotional withdrawal.

CPP integrates a focus on the way trauma has affected the child-parent relationship so that the relationship can increase in awareness and become more enjoyable.

Elizabeth Berg has specialized evidence-based training in Trauma Focused Child-Parent Psychotherapy for children specifically ages 0-5.
